Time zones

Some countries do not use daylight savings time at all or apply different schedules, which leads to a number of abberations regarding time shift:
  • Africa stretches across 6 timezones, daylight saving time is only used in Egypt and Namibia.
  • Asia covers 8 timezones, among others Iran and Israel follow abberating DST-schedules.
  • Australia covers 3 timezones, DST is used only in the Capital territory, New south Wales,southern Australia, Tasmania and Victoria.
  • Canada covers 6 timezones, except for Nunavut, Quebec/East und Saskatchewan all regions use DST.
  • In the Caribbean only Bahamas, Bermuda and Turks & Caico use DST.
  • In the pacific area only New Zealand use DST.
  • South America encloses 4 timezones, DST is use by Chile, the Falkland Islands and Paraguay.

"EU" the timezone table indicates that the DST schedule appointed by the European Union is used, with daylight saving time beginning on the last sunday in march and ending on the last sunday in october. The minus sign indicates that no specific information exists.
