Lacoste

In 1933 two men set out to establish a company that would commercially market sportswear. Something that certainly was not common in those days. These two men were professional tennis player René Lacoste and André Gillier, the owner and general manager of Frances largest manufacturer of hosiery and knitwear. Soon after that their firs catalogue appeared, offering knitted shirts for tennis and golf players. Those shirts all carried the Lacoste crocodile, which has nowadays become one of the most recognised fashion emblems. The crocodile was chosen because it had René Lacoste’s nickname, after a lost bet during the 1927 Davis-Cup.

Lacoste fashion is still predominantly sportswear, and ist qualities are mainly comfort and high quality materials.

Lacoste watches continue this tradition of sport, comfort and quality, producing a trendy and innovative collection of time-pieces.
